Our Day at Stone Island
While in Mazatlan, we reccommend spending at least one day over at Stone Island. It is easy to get to, and you don't need to buy into a special tour if you don't want to. You can take a cab to the boat docks, and take a short boat ride over to the island for about $30 pesos per person.

The boat ride is quick, and once you get to the island, you can take another short cab ride down to the beach. Once you are there, it feels like you have been transported to another part of the world entirely. The pace of life is slower here, the fish is fresh from the ocean, and the beach is quiet (as long as you are there during weekdays).
There are several acticities to partake in on Stone Island, including ATV riding through the coconut groves and down the beach, kayaking, banana boat rides, snorkling...or my personal favourite, sitting back and enjoying a cold drink, and listening to the local musicians.

Stone Island is a great day trip for singles, couples, groups of friends, or families with children. The beach here is really wide and the water is shallow, which makes it a great spot for kids to play. The restaurants offer great food with fresh fish brought in that morning from local fisherman. You can order a fresh coconut and drink the water straight from the coconut!
Get out and do some exploring, and don't forget to visit Stone Island while you are at it!
